Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation with Farkas

Farkas Pungur graduated in 1996 from Hungary’s leading University, University of Pecs’s Science faculty. In 1994 Farkas has also studied as an exchange student at Karl-Franzens University of Graz, Austria at the Human Science faculty.

Farkas comes from an extensive gymnastics background, being a former athlete and has been coaching national level women’s artistic, international level acrobatic and freestyle (Parkour - Free running) gymnastics for 15 years. Farkas was a competitive gymnast for 21 years, 5 of them collegiately as part of the University of Pecs Men’s Team. Farkas and his wife Reka has also spent 6 years as special guest entertainers on International cruise ships as adage duo, tumblers and aerial acrobats. Farkas also worked as a stunt man in Hungary, Germany, Austria and Australia for many years.

His unique background as a former athlete, performer and current coach gives him one of a kind approaches for the performance and rehabilitation of gymnasts. He has successfully treated many of his junior national and elite level gymnasts.


Along with gymnastics, Farkas enjoys treating athletes of all sports as well as the specialized treatment of Track and field, Football players and dancers.

Farkas has a great working relationship with Brisbane’s finest Physio Therapists, Chiropractors, Sport nutritionist and medical professionals. His current interests include prevention and rehabilitation of extension-based spine injuries, shoulder, hip and knee instability, periodization and strength and conditioning models, as well as the science involved in long-term athletic development, mobility training, and motor control. He participates in ongoing continuing education by attending various courses, collaborating with other professionals, and staying up to date with the most current medical research.

Farkas is a current presenter for Gymnastics Qld, has previously presented at the Australian Fitness Summit and at Western Australia’s educational weekend. He also assists Qld regional gymnastics clubs with his extensive knowledge.


Farkas is very passionate about his work both in fitness and gymnastics training arena. He aims to deliver the best possible care to the clients he sees and athletes he trains. He hopes to soon become more active in the role of conducting research studies related to sport and fitness.
